I just changed jobs, and had to go from using lyx on a Unix box at my old job to wanting to use it on a PC at my new job. I had it installed on my PC (Windows 2000), but I can't seem to open a *.lyx file that I
created under Unix, once I copied that file over to my PC. Any ideas?
Please see the following details. It may be an issue of version number.
I thought it might be a single offending command in that particular *.lyx file, so I tried the same thing with a much smaller file (a short abstract), but I got the same result -- it wouldn't open on the PC.
I looked for this bug in your bug list, but didn't find it.
Unix: ----- Top two lines in my lyx file on Unix: #LyX 1.1 created this file. For more info see http://www.lyx.org/ \lyxformat 218
When running lyx on Unix, the splash screen says it is Version "1.1.6 fix4".
Windows 2000: -------------- The Lyx splash screen on windows says it is Version "1.3.2".
When I try to open my *.lyx file on the PC, I get an error message saying that it can't convert it. "An error occurred while running the conversion script". So I can't even open the file.
I was able to open/view the Lyx help files though. I used "save as" to save one of the help files to my PC, and I was then able to open that file just fine using lyx. So the problem appears to by my Unix file, rather than the installation of lyx on my pc. FYI, unlike on Unix, the splash screen on the pc doesn't go away until I open a document.
Thank you in advance, CS
