I was setting a friend's letter in LyX and attempted to include an EPS of their signature in the 'signature' of the letter template so that the PDF would look like a real letter. Unfortunately (or possibly, as expected), the result was that the PDF included the blank space which is normally a part of 'signature', producing a very unprofessional output.
I was wondering if there was a file I could modify which would allow me to manipulate the blank space in 'signature' so that any inserted EPSs would fit in naturally. I suppose that I could cut out 'signature' etc and just typeset the letter with loads of protected blanks and lines, but I'm sure there must be a more elegant solution. I looked for visible and invisible files called 'signature', but found nothing LaTeX related. The preferences must be buried very deep. As it was, I photoshopped the whole deal with good visual results, but somewhat embarrassingly turned the original 16KB LyX PDF into a 4MB Photoshop monster. Hmmm If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful, even it is just to say how I might tame Photoshop. PR
