If this is a one-off project, you may find that preparing a layout file is more work than you can justify. At the risk of accusations of heresy . . .if you've already written the text and are comfortable with it, you might find it easier to export the LyX file(s) as LaTeX, and import them and the new .cls file into a good editor like emacs with auctex. It's a different style of working from LyX, but emacs or some other text editor might be well-suited to the fine formatting and tedious character-by-character massaging when you hear back from the book designer and copy-editor. -- Ronald Florence www.18james.com
