You should 
redefine the title of your first slide as Title
(from the style menu)
OR
redefine the author, institution, ... fields as standard with whatever
character layout you like.

These slides layout (seminar works alike) call the \maketitle
command as soon as the Title, Author or Date styles are defined,
which make an error if you define a slide before.
First solution attached, works fine here.
