\overset doesn't seem to work in lyx/prosper. Is there anything I can do?

<recently read> \overset
did you enabled amsmath (layout->document->packages)?
I added it to the preamble eventually and it now works. Thx!
I had this explained to me at one point on this list I think but I can't really remember. Something to with lyx interpreting brackets differently to latex.
l.119 denoted x$\overset {\delta}=$y if and only if
looks abit curiuous, because overset has the syntax \overset{a}{b}.

Now I have another strange problem. If I take a bit of text and highlight it and press ctrl-m to put it into maths mode I can not then View->postscript the file. It works fine if I do Ctrl-m and then type the maths in. The only visible sign of difference is that in the former case the text does not go into the nice italic blue that is does if I do ctrl-m and then type in the maths. It stays in black in the ordinary font (although with the maths symbols working).
Any ideas? Cheers, Raphael
