Ok, thank you Herbert. I didn't look in the counter page only in caption.
However, it works the automatic reset did not work. I can manually reset the
counter at the start of each chapter, so this is not any big problem.
I added this in the preamble:
\usepackage{remreset}
\renewcommand{\thefigure}{\arabic{figure}}
\renewcommand{\thetable}{\arabic{table}}
