There you can find a patch for internationalized menues within LyX.

Here my question: Where must I enter the command 'LANG=fr_FR' to get
french menues? LyX's customization guide tells me in chapter 4.1,
that I should enter this in " ~/.Xsession or ~/.xinitrc ". But
LyxWin32 is based on QT.

I tried to modify the file 'preferences' but without success. Has
anybody an idea?

If you want to run LyX in french only occasionally, then run LyX from the console:

$ export LANG=fr_FR
$ lyx

Ahhhhh. You're talking about that Win32 nonsense...

Sorry, no idea.

Uwe,
Ther is no equiv. Windows environment variable. You cannot enter 'LANG=fr_FR' anywhere. Though maybe if you run the Cygwin version you can.

Assuming you run the native Win32 version, the Windows equiv is to set your "Language and Regional Options" to French. I think just the Langauge settings under the "Advanced" tab will do. I haven't tried this though, since you need to reboot.

Alternatively, if someone has it running in french already, perhaps they can email Uwe their .ui file. I presume that running LyX in French will generate a French version of default.ui. But then you still have to select the .ui to use every time you want to run LyX in French.
