I want to send the preface and table of contents of my book to a few people. For some reason, the resulting pdf file generates errors (wrong content type) on the blank page between the two portions. Can't recall this happening before.
Here's what I did: From LyX I exported the whole document to pdflatex. Viewing the file (using either xpdf or acroread, makes no difference), I printed pages 1-9 to a .ps file. Ran ps2pdf to create the pdf file of pages 1-9. When viewing the resulting pdf in xpdf I can smoothly page from 1 to 9 and back. When viewing the pdf in acroread, I get error messages on page 6, a blank page between the preface and ToC. If I keep clicking the "OK" button, I get past that point and the rest of the pages display properly. The folks to whom I want to send this all are Microserfs so I want the extract to display smoothly with Acrobat Reader. I cannot recall this problem before when I extracted a chapter or other part from the book. Did I do something improper here? Is there a more efficient way to produce a pdf of a designated portion of the .lyx document? TIA, Rich -- Dr. Richard B. Shepard, President Applied Ecosystem Services, Inc.
