It's interesting that your report has no title. I've never tried that
before so I cannot comment on whether or not it has any unintended
consequences.

OK. This will not affect what you see. At least, not that I can see.

I've not tried any of the view options in the several years I've used LyX.
I press ctrl-d to view the dvi output when I need to check the typeset
appearance. When I want a pdf copy I use File -> Export -> pdflatex.
If you use ctrl-d, do you also see a blank page? This is all _I_ can
suggest. More knowledgeable folks almost certainly have better suggestions.
