Doesn't this suggest to you that you have rather too much cruft from earlier versions lying around? The question comes down to, which textclass.lst is lyx-1.3.4 using (/usr/share/lyx/textclass.lst apparently) and which one should it be using (/usr/share/lyx/textclass.lst or even /root/lyx-1.3.4/lib/textclass.lst perhaps...)
