Just answered my own question. Yes, I need to put \usepackage{subfigure}
in the preamble or I get all sorts of compilation errors.
Now for a real question: how do you suggest that I size each of the 8
subfigures so I get 4 rows of 2 figures each? Scale each one to 50% of line
width?
