Brian,

I am using my RH 7.3 system now. It has LyX-1.3.3/Qt installed and works
like a charm. I don't have libflimage.so.1 on my system.

Download the source for LyX-1.3.3. When you run the ./configure step,
specify (and this is from memory so you'll want to check the configure file
for the exact syntax) "--with-front-end=qt". Then build. If you have
'checkinstall' use that in lieu of the 'make install' step. It will create a
RH package for you and install that. As a result, LyX is visible to the
package manager and is listed as an installed application.
