I mean that this is very difficult to achieve. To align material, it has to be in a matrix. So you can try to put the itemize environment into a matrix or tabbing environment. But I don't know if this is possible.
This is an interesting question, that you should ask again in the comp.text.tex group. I'm sure that the LaTeX experts there have an answer.
