The beamer LaTeX package installs the LaTeX class beamer.cls and a bunch of style files. The beamer package includes a LyX layout file (beamer.layout) and a LyX template (beamerpresentation.lyx). These install in subdirectories under the .../tex/latex/beamer directory in your TeX file tree. You need to copy them to the corresponding LyX directories (for instance, the layouts and templates directories under your document home directory).
