With some help from the IM bugs people, there's now a fix for the cropping problem in IM 6.0.8 . It involves 2 steps
1. Move the name of the source file to the beginning of the arguments list (so: convert myfile.ps .... )
2. After the -crop 0x0 add +repage (separated by the previous and next arguments by at least 1 space). Note that this is "+repage" not "-repage".
The cropping problem also affected unix builds of IM. I had originally encountered it in connection with Eitan Gurari's TeX4ht converter. Eitan has now updated his distribution (note: the update distribution, not the base one) to incorporate these changes. I don't know if this fix will deal with the other problem(s) noted in this thread, but it's worth a try.
