The problem does not occur if the inserted Greek text is in the quotation environment. If I'm prepared to set the Greek as a 'Quotation' for instance and set the surrounding text as 'Standard' (or whatever) then the \end{otherlanguage} tag works correctly.
Is this worth reporting as a bug I wonder?

Having looked carefully at Herbert's file I find I have the same problem reported by Angus (although I'm running FC2 rather than FC1). I guess I have to update my Babel and language packages. Now how do set about that... is there an fc2 rpm somewhere?
