I've used Lyx with Gentoo with no problems at all. I'd suggest unmerging lyx, xdvi and possibly some of the other export programs, them emerging them again. You might also need to try "revdep-rebuild -p" if you have updated any system libraries. Another possibility is running out of space on your /tmp device: did you check that? Les -- L. R.
