These lines are a bit strange :

Cells are colored with the command

\rowcolor{name of color}

Sorry I mistyped, of course it should be the command \cellcolor It is fixed now, thanks for the report.

I'm wondering if it is a good advice to give to insert ERT in Lyx tables to
manipulate. My experience is to that you can get all kind of weird LaTeX
errors from malformed LaTeX code. It is better to create the table from
scratch in a LaTeX editor like Kile and then paste it or better import it
into LyX.

What else should I advise. To express it hard, LyX is designed to create texts in LaTeX without the knowledge of LaTeX. And this concepts works. I know people who have written large documents without knowing how LaTeX is working in the background of LyX. If they had problems, you could explain them a single LaTeX-command and how it is entered correctly into LyX as ERT and the next time they were able to use this command without help. It's a kind of learning LaTeX/LyX step by step. But if the step is too high, you'll immediately hear the sentences
"It's too complicated. Word is so much easier, I'll return to it."
It lasts a while till the advantages of LyX/LaTeX can compensate the difficulties.
If I tell them know, they should use an external program to create a table with, for them, unknown commands and appearance, they'll shurely run away from LyX. My experience is, that the normal Lyx-user wants as much WYSIWYM as possible. He wants to mark the table cell, go to a menu, choose a color and wants the cell to be colored inside LyX. As this feature is only available for the cell text, I proposed to use ERT, because one can still see inside LyX how the table will look like in the output (is the text centered, are all lines correct etc.).
But as using ERT is always difficult to understand for the first time, I attached an example for every section.

But you are right, that using ERT is error-prone. But creating the whole table will be more error-prone for many users. (Those who are able to create tables with LaTeX-commands often prefers to use editors instead of Lyx.)

p.s. Does anybody know how to create a TOC for a wiki-site?
