Thanks, Herbert: unfortunately I cannot get this one to work: throws
a 'missing item' error.
My attempt is commented out in the file attached: it compiles,
but cannot distinguish between an empty group and one contining
text, presumaby because [EMAIL PROTECTED] only looks ahead one token.
What I am intending to do is use the flag to determine whether the
env {answer} starts with \par, depending on whether \item has
an argument are not. Perhaps there is a more elegant way? Or
perhaps this approach can be salvaged?
