I'm having trouble displaying math symbols on the screen with lyx. Does someone know what I am doing wrong? I followed the help file referenced earlier on this list, at http://wiki.lyx.org/pmwiki.php/LyX/Troubleshooting#fonts and the INSTALL file, but I'm still having trouble. I'm running Mandrake 10.0, kernel 2.6.3mdk with Lyx version 1.3.4 compiled from source. I tried using the rpm, and the newer version, 1.3.5 of lyx, but both had other issues. My system uses libXpm version 4.11 and libforms version 1.0.0. The command "ldd `which lyx` | grep fontconfig" gives no response. When I try opening a file with math symbols, I get the following errors. Could not get font '-misc-cmr10-medium-r-normal--17-0-0-0-p-0-misc-fontspecific' . Using 'fixed'.
