a) This is Linux-related list and so most of the users are quite mail
literate and using quite capable MUAs (I don't think that there are many
users of LyX who would read their emails in Outlook, which is AFAIK the
worst offender in this aspect).
b) I would think that there are many people who use gmane.org (news2mail
gateway; I do), which leads to using newsereaders, which are usually pretty
well equipped in threaded department.
