It was rather naive of me to think that you'd not be reading anything from me for several weeks now that the book's done. :-) I do have a couple of puzzling situations that I cannot explain. Perhaps no one can.
The page size is set to 9.25" length and 6.125" width. For the longest time this was ignored. Then I rearranged the \frontmatter and the smaller size appeared in the .dvi preview and pdflatex output. So, when I produced final output last evening, the pdf version of the book was 288 pages.
This morning, my sister caught a couple of glitches in the Preface that neither I nor the copyeditor caught. So I corrected them and exported a new pdflatex. This one, however, has only 258 pages and the pdf file is about 31K smaller. It's back to a larger text-area size on each page. I have absolutely no clue what is going on.
Also, the latest export does not page smoothly in either xpdf or acroread. When I click the next-page button in acroread or press 'n' in xpdf quite often the display jumps two pages. Same thing going backwards. I've not seen this in any pdf file before now.
All this with lyx-1.3.5/qt on Slackware. It's almost as if I've worn it out. Very strange. If anyone's experienced anything like this, please let me know.
Thanks,
Rich
