I use lyx for mathematical papers, and just for thinking over some analysis,
all the time - its a really nice tool.

I have one little request:

The math panel (I am using the 1.3.5 rpm for susie 9.1) eats half my screen
width, leaving only half for the document. This may depend on the GUI library
of the build?

The Symbols box could easily slip to the left under the sum option and font
buttons almost halving the screen width consumed without much change in
height. Other size economies may be possible - e.g. functions on a pop up, in
line with the 6 (useful) little button array, would allow a broader symbols
area...

The bracket (delimiters) box could be halve as wide when keep matched is
checked.

With these changes I could have the math panel and still have the bracket and
greek pop ups showing, with only 1/4 page width loss.

It might be useful to (be able to?) reduce the font and button size in these
dialogs too?

Is there a build (lib selection or ...) which would achieve some of this
already?
