I have worked out the problem.
For anyone else dealing with columns.........lyx works out the width of the figure, and then applies any rotation you declare. So if you want to put in images that need rotating through 90 degrees you need to scale the height to 100% col. Then upon rotation this is the width and all is well.
Hope that all makes sense.
Thanks to all the people who sent advice.

Hi,
I am using RevTeX4 in two columns and the 100% column width is what you need, i.e. it works on my computer. I know this doesn't help... Maybe the problem is the eps files (bounding box, etc.)?
"Geoffrey Lloyd" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]I am writing a journal article and the publishers specify the use of RevTex4. Everything works fine in Lyx except the use of figures. The document format is two column and I wondered if there is anyway to force the figures to resize to fit these columns. I have tried using the 'scale width 100 col%' but the images are still huge in DVI preview.
Any thoughts.
Also any other advice if anyone has used RevTex4 before
Many thanks
