Actually, placing the ERT "\thispagesytle{plain}" inside the Abstract does
force a page number on the first page of the abstract. (I forgot the
"this".)
I'm still hoping someone can answer my first question, and also comment on
the solution I have for my second question (if it is the "right way"
short of creating my own document class, or if there is a more Lyx-ish way
of doing it).
