There was a third question which I forgot to include; just as well, I am
learning that the quick and easy way is to look for the LaTeX command.
Here, in case anyone is wondering, is how one cross-references in the
index (using the everpresent ERT); this can be added anywhere in the
document, I guess:
\index{cheese|see{crackers}}
In my case the name was so long that it was _overprinting_ the right
column of the index, so I had to add a linebreak:
\index{Jawlensky, Andreas| see{\newline Nesnakomoff-Jawlensky, Andreas}}
