Setting the spacing between \itemize entries?

I can do it with ERT in the body of the document as
<ERT>\begin{itemize}
\setlength{\itemsep}{0pt}</ERT>
<ERT>\item </ERT>foo
<ERT>\item </ERT>bar
<ERT>\end{itemize}
But can I do it for all itemize lists by shoving something in the 
preamble instead and using LyX's itemize environment?
