As a side note, in linguistics, by convention, leading asterisks are
used to mark examples as 'invalid/wrong' :)

The author originally used a bullet. I substituted an asterisk
because I wasn't sure what the ascii code was for a bullet.
I removed what I though might be html characters. So I
will mail this example and see how they come out.
