I wonder if there is a way to have subscripts to limits (in inline mode)
written beneath the lim word rather than next to it. I cannot use display
mode all the time.

I know that LaTeX can do it i.e.
$\lim\limits_{x\rightarrow 0}\frac{\sin{x}}{x}=1$

Any idea?

- type in the normal formula
- set the cursor behind the "lim" and press "M-m S-l i" or use the menu
Edit -> Math -> Change Limits Type -> Display
