Under Layout-->Document had the font set to "default".  The class I'm using
(customized thesis for my school) doesn't seem to specify the font, as near
as I could tell.


In general it is better to use Type 1 fonts for PDF because they can be

Okay...I tried all the suggestions on that page, but had the same results.
Also, I tried changing the font to "times" with the same (bad) results.
Maybe I'm not changing the font correctly or don't have the right fonts
installed?
