In preamble
\usepackage{rotating}
and in the document, instead (!) of the floating object, embrace the table and
the caption by
\begin{sidewaystable}
[...]
\end{sidewaystable}
LyX 1.4 will have native support for this.
this often makes no sense for small tables, because
you _always_ get a new page for this table.
