Subject: Re: Install unavaliable classes in Lyx

Stephen, the instructions you gave me worked fine. In "C:\texmf\tex\latex\cv" I had got only the "CV.sty" file (why?). Then, I downloaded and copied the cv.cls and it is ok now! Thanks a lot! :-)

You only had the Cv.sty file because that is normal for the Miktex
installation which provides your Latex functions. LyX usually comes
with the cv.layout and the cv.cls files; they are installed automatically.
Actually, I wasn't sure that this idea would completely work.

From your other message:

"Well, I don't have the "Resources" directory, and the "TeX Information" command don't work on my windows version of lyx. It don't recognize
the ".sh" files and the commands inside it."

SH: Lyx needs helper programs. Python for py scripts. Msys provides
sh.exe and sed.exe and if you don't have them it causes problems. Some
other programs have different versions of sh.exe and sed.exe and if they
are used it can also cause problems because the install isn't complete.

Pick a download mirror nearest you. It should install into C:\Msys\1.0\bin

LyX works best on Windows XP. Windows 98 takes more effort and
I think Win95 is a lost cause. I think you should save all your valuable
LyX files into a safe folder. Then delete LyX and any helper programs
you are unsure about, then upgrade. These new windows lyx packages
work good. But if you use a modem or have an old Windows, then maybe not. There may be a new WinLyX 1.4.0 download in a couple weeks.

Happy New Year!
Stephen
