other directories such as theme, extensions etc. Where do we put these

Are we suppose to merge all them with files in directory base and put
all the files in
/tex/latex/beamer

My installation has subdirectories art, emacs, emulation, extensions,
lyx, solutions, themes under <texmf>/tex/latex/beamer.
