I'm guessing it's a "problem" with your setup. That is, I think you must
have set the ui file in your LyX-1.3.6 preference file to
"/Applications/Work/Latex/LyX.app/Contents/Resources/Lyx/ui/default.ui"
instead of simply "default.ui". LyX-1.4.0 changed the location of that
file, but the LyX/Mac installer doesn't know to alter your setting,
since we expect people simply to enter "default.ui" (without the whole
path to that file).
Is that right? (Your 1.3.6 user's directory is intact, so you can check
your setting there.)
Good guess! The setting indeed is carreid over from the 1.3.6
preferences file.
Why there is an absolute path in the preferences file, I don't know thogh.
I always changed settings through the GUI, only.
