Hello Stacia. I think that it's better not to relate this feature to the
multicol package. The purpose is to make use of the big screen area to
see more of the LyX-document in a confortable way without tying this
feature to the "printed" document space.

I think this sounds like a good idea too. It would be cool to actually
see the effects of the multicol package in action! Post it on the
bugzilla site!

Hello. It will be very nice that lyx could present the documents (I'm
talking about the lyx presentation not about the product document) in
two columns (or more) so that we can use all the space that new
high-resolution displays bring to us in a very nice and powerful way.
This sounds like a very dificult thing to implement but: what about
something like a "lyx slave window". This lyx slave window is just
another lyx window (uneditable and without menus or toolbars) that acts
as a slave of the master (editable) lyx window so that if you scroll
through the document in the master lyx window, the slave window reacts
and scrolls too showing the document where the main window ended. This
way you could have many lyx windows (one master and one slave or even
many slaves chained) showing a multiculumn (editable in the master
window) lyx view of the document.
I will send this mail to the developers list too.
Thanks,
Nicolás
