Spellchecker of non-English idioms fails to start

Dear All

Yes, the spellchecker fails to start for a non-English language.
Running LyX 1.4 on FC5 and getting on the command line

$ Dialog "spellchecker" failed to translate the data string passed to show()

Any ideas?
