These were actually problems with the layout file conversion script of LyX, not the beamer layout file. The official beamer.layout from the beamer package will work fine with 1.4.1. There is still one glitch: enumerated lists don't have a number on screen, but that will be fixed in LyX 1.4.2. Georg
