I support this remark, it looks like a real regression: I strongly miss 
the ability to edit the document on the fly while spellchecking.
I think I will post this on bugzilla.

Does Ctrl-Arrow keys help ?
Once upon a time, Mark on (Ctrl-@) was useful to select over pages, 
but I don't recollect how it worked.
