Use Edit->Paragraph Settings...->Alignment

Use Insert->Box to insert a box. Put the cursor in the text area of the
box inset and use Insert->Graphics... to insert and, if needed, scale
the image. Then right-click (or whatever the Mac equivalent is) the
"handle" of the box, make sure the inner box is set to "minipage", and
"Box vertical" to "middle".
