I was asking specifically about the "PATH Prefix" setting. For me, it's:

/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin- current:/usr/X11R6/bin:/sw/bin:/opt/local/teTeX/bin:/opt/local/bin

I'm sorry that I misunderstoot that!
Mine is almost the same:
/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin- current:/usr/local/teTeX/bin/i386-apple-darwin-current:/usr/X11R6/ bin:/sw/bin:/opt/local/teTeX/bin:/opt/local/bin

Could it be a problem of the additional paths

/usr/local/teTeX/bin/x386-apple-darwin-current
and
/opt/local/bin

No. (In fact, the former of these is necessary if you have an Intel Mac.)

I don't think so ... I deleted them, so I had an exact copy of yours, reconfigured again and again - but still the same problems: I let i-Installer do everything without any changes, so what could be wrong here after all?

Also, regarding the hints by Anders, if I become su or use sudo and type "texhash" I get: "command not found" -- of course, I first updated in installed everything i-Installer knows of or shows as available packages ... :-/

This indicates that something is wrong with your teTeX installation. (Can you use LyX to generate a .tex file and then run latex manually on that?)
