Thanks, Jean-Pierre. I tried bibsort for a while. however I tried "./configure && make all check install" as shown in its README file, and get not get it compiled. And its .jar file can not be executed by "java -jar bibsort-0.15.jar" neither. I believe that this is a well maintained software since it has gone through many revisions.
By the way, it seems that bibsort will sort the *.bib file itself, instead of the entried in the final PDF output. is it correct? Thanks for your time. Michael Chen On 11/2/06, Jean-Pierre Chretien <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

One of Nelson Beebe's awk scripts: http://www.math.utah.edu/~beebe/software/bibsort/bibsort-04.html#OPT.4.2>> Reorder your bibfile with bibsort (I guess -byday is what you need) then use an unsorted bst file. More generally, these scripts are worth downloading IMO. -- Jean-Pierre
