Hi list,
i upgraded to lyx-1.4.2 on my gentoo-linux system using the gentoo-ebuild.
Starting to use it i encountered some problems:
* The configuration document states that the values of the two shell
variables LyxDir and UserDir can be seen in the 'about LyX'-Window of
the help dialog. Which is not the case in my LyX.
* It is equally stated that the settings for the converters can be
modified using the Tools>prferences:Conversion dialog.
This dialog does not show up in myx LyX.
* In the >>Document >Settings >Bullets window only for First Level there
is a selection bar (which can be opened clicking on the little triangle
at the right end of the bar) which shows nothing ,-(
* To produce special characters (like å, ç, etc.) i defined in a local
.xmodmap file 'keycode 66 = Multi_Key' (changing the behaviour of the
Caps_Lock key. On the command line and in other programs (as you see
here) this works fine. Inside LyX it doesn't.
* My Locale is all set to german ('[EMAIL PROTECTED]'). In the
~/.lyx/preferences file i added a line '\bind_file hw_cua' with my
personal bindings. I have verified that this hw_cua.bind is used. This
file contains a line 'bind_file menus.bind' (which is the english
version of the menus). Nevertheless the menus are german which i don't
like becuase i got used to the english ones for years now ,-(
I'm very eager to restore the LyX environment i'm used to now for some
years and which i like very much.
So any hint is welcome.
LyX is my absolute favorite for producing text documents. Thanks for
this great program.
Hellmut
