Bruce, I think you're going to have to use the LaTeX font selection scheme in ERT. You could use Zapf Chancery as your script font. It's pzc to LaTeX.

\fontfamily{pzc}\large {text} seems to work, but replacing \large by \larger does not. What's up with that?

LaTeX comes with the font "Zapf Chancery" (\usepackage{chancery}). Maybe that fits your needs?

That changes the default roman font. He just wanted to set a couple words in script.
