You can also use the AMS command \boxed{} in math mode. It works with single-line equations. If you want to draw a box around a multi-line equation, there's the LaTeX fancybox package: http://tug.ctan.org/cgi-bin/ctanPackageInformation.py?id=fancybox that draws very beautiful boxes, but in this case, you'll have to enter the commands in ERT.
