What could be a problem is that i-Installer has changed to using a
new structure. I moved my templates to /usr/local/gwTeX/texmf.local
and that worked for me with the usual sudo texhash & LyX->Tools-
>Reconfigure (I don't know if this is the "correct" place to put
templates though, haven't had time to read the documentation).
However the double TeX-installations could be a problem, but that is
above my horizon. Hopefully some of the TeX-gurus can help you there.

I have lyx 1.4.3 installed on my macbook. I am writing my thesis in
lyx and I have a .cls template that I would like to look at and
possible
use as an outline/skeleton. I tried to install the template via the
directions on the wiki walkthrough for macs, but its not working(I did
reconfigure, etc). When I try to open a file via existing template,
there isnt the option to use the thesis one I thought I installed. And
when I click on a sample lyx file using it, it says using default
class,
thesis class not found. I had originally installed MacTex, but then
just
added the TeTex(via I-installer) as well so I have both. Where do I
need
to install each file so that lyx can see it? Is this where I can
install all templates?
