No, but depending on your platform I'm sure there's a way to do it. I'm
on Windows, and I use the (freeware) IrfanView image viewer. On the
rare occasions that I need to get images off the clipboard, I keep a
copy of IrfanView open on the side, paste the images into it, and save
from there. This has the advantage that I can pick the file format from
a fairly extensive list (albeit all bitmap formats), and do some basic
editing (cropping, rotation, etc.) if needed.
I'll second what Bo said about format. If the initial image is in
vector format, I wouldn't recommend passing it through the clipboard,
since that effectively (and perhaps not optimally?) rasterizes it.
