So please consider reporting documentation issues to bugzilla.
A few comments.
If a user improves the documentation we will certainly welcome it and be
grateful. Richard is quite right that from a practical point of view,
changing the documentation is quite easy. However, please send such
patches to the documentation list:
lyx-docs <at> lists.lyx.org
It's not a problem if you do send it to the users' or developers' list,
but its supposed to go to the documentation list eventually.
Anyway, I expect that most users' won't have the time and/or expertise
needed to improve the documentation, so I'd just like to once again say
that we'll we be very grateful if users just add an issue entry to
bugzilla!
This is a great way for users to get involved! And remember: Except for
Lars (the creator of LyX) and maybe other real old-schoolers (JMarc?),
we were all users first.
Not to diminish Lars' contributions, but AFAIK, the originators glory goes
to Matthias Ettrich, see e.g. the history section in
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LyX
