There may be a LaTeX package that will allow you to do this, but it is
not straightforward, I don't think. It's a LaTeX class option whether
the pages are single- or double-sided. That said, the only thing this
really affects is the layout of the page, so you could manually set (and
then reset) the page layout for the frontmatter.
