Steve, Expediency won: I can do the reports using ReportLab's table layout. Fewer than two dozen lines of code, and I can fine-tune placement on the page, have headers that are defined once and printed on each page, and meet our needs. It's not a generic solution, but it fits the application's structure and works for our purposes. Rich -- Richard B.
