AFAIK, you're not unable to change it. You just have to restart LyX after 
changing the screen font, which should be bearable, unless you change the 
screen font really often. FYI this will be fixed in 1.5.3.

If you provide more details about what excatly fails with which messages, we 
can probably help you.
